Padmashri Swapan Guha - Managing Director

Mr. Swapan Guha, the Founder & Managing Director of Hopewell Tableware Pvt. Ltd. is the first and only person to receive the prestigious Padmashri Award in the year 2012 for his contribution to the field of Ceramic & Glass.

He has also been bestowed with the following national awards:
  • Madan Gopal Bhagat award 1998
  • Prof Sasadhar Roy Memorial Award in 1999
  • Norton Award for outstanding contribution in ceramics in 2009
  • Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini award in 2011

A pioneer in the field of ceramics, Padmashri Swapan Guha always dreamt of crossing the milestones of beauty in ceramics. He was also associated with the success of following Ceramic Companies during his career span. NCL Hyderabad, Bharat Bone China, Clay Craft & JCPL Bone China & Tiles Industry in Morbi, Gujarat.

He traveled a lot and took a great interest in constantly studying & applying the latest technical & non-technical innovations & developments happening across the ceramics industry.

In his three decade long stint in this field, he has been instrumental in successful development of several bone china & stoneware bodies, glazes and colors, and received a lot of appreciation for his work in this field.

In the year 1995, he set up a Bone-China Tableware unit named Jaipur Ceramics Pvt. Ltd. (JCPL) in Rajawas, Jaipur. Today, JCPL is successfully exporting 60% of its products to Australia, South Korea and several European Countries.

In 2002, he initiated another project called Hopewell Ceramics Pvt. Ltd. for the manufacturing of Ceramic colors and glazes in the RIICO industrial area in Jaitpura, Chomu.

In 2010, he flagged off a new business venture - Hopewell Tableware Pvt. Ltd. to manufacture Ceramic, Opal and Melamine Tableware.

 

Padmashri

Padmashri is a prestigious award given by Government of India to distinguished people of Indian origin in different fields. This is awarded to citizens of India to recognize their distinguished contribution in various spheres of activity including Arts, Education, Industry, Literature, Science, Sports, Medicine, Social Service and Public Affairs.

The words "Padma", means’ Lotus’ in Sanskrit and the word "Shri", in Devanagri, appear above and below the lotus flower in the shield. The geometrical pattern on either side is in sparkly bronze. All embossing is in white gold.
